Alien Change of Address - Form AR-11

Notice of Change of Address

U.S. law requires foreign nationals to file form AR-11 within 10 days of changing their address in the United States. This requirement applies to anyone who is not a US citizen, including US permanent residents (Green Card holders) and nonimmigrant visa holders.

Until 1981, US law imposed a number of registration requirements that were repealed. The remaining registration requirement was rarely enforced and largely ignored. After September 11, 2001, there are increasing indications that the USCIS is more actively enforcing this requirement.

As of November 7, 2002, the USCIS has issued a new Form AR-11 and changed the address where the AR-11 is filed.
